Who Else Wants a Peaceful, Harmonious Home?

Staying calm when your child is pushing your button is the biggest challenge that parents face daily. Kids will push back with the begging, pleading, whining and “in your face I hate yous”. When they do this it is infuriating whether they are 4 or 17 it stings and gets right at our “heart guilt”.
“Am I being too strict?”
“Does my child really hate me?”
“I am going to lose my child and we’ll never be close.”
This is when we cave…give in…back off…and retreat…
Child now gets sweet, “thanks, Mom, Dad…you are the greatest!” and we feel validated.
UNTIL…the next time…and as they get better at pulling our heart strings with the learned dance that we have practiced with them…they get louder and angrier and more demanding. Yikes!
Well, here is the good news…you can turn this around. First remember that behaviors are two-fold.
Stop behaviors and Start behaviors. Stop the behaviors you never want to see and Start increasing positive behaviors that you want more of. The number one biggest mistake that parents make is taking away material things and taking away TV, Computer and Cell phone for disrespectful behaviors.
Why? Because it makes kids angrier and they do not learn anything from this punishment. Instead…work on setting limits and staying calm…this will enable you to get listened to and you will never have to resort to taking things away or grounding again.
In my Home Study Program: The 7 Secrets to Powerful Parenting, the first CD is dedicated to teaching you how to parent calmly…and since it was just launched this week it is specially priced until Friday night, March 19, midnight at only $37. After that it goes up to $77 which is still a bargain considering that you’ll never have to spend money on counseling, therapy or parenting help again.
So, who else wants to parent calmly and live in a peaceful harmonious home?
